SULPHIDE. Figure is a Standing Pig. Base glass is light amber. Big, fat pig. Exceptional detail to the figure. Well centered. No air bubbles. Good silvering. Surface has been polished. A very rare marble both because of the colored glass and the figure. 1-3/16". Polished.

Please note that this marble could be a "California Sulphide". At least one other example exists that is the identical figure in amber glass that has not been polished. We have reviewed images of the surface of that marble and it has the surface indications of a California Sulphide. A quick internet search of California Sulphides will return plenty of opinion and documentation on these. The Auctioneer has long held the opinion that these are mid 1920s to mid 1930s German handmade marbles.

The Consignor, who inherited this from his mother, states that she bought it at a flea market in Central PA in the early 1980s. He remembers the acquisition, because he was with her as a child and he remembers her being very excited about finding it. This would date the acquisition to at least a decade prior to the appearance of the group of California Sulphides.

All of our shipping is conducted in-house. Your invoice will include a shipping charge. We charge the actual cost of shipping plus a buck for the box and packing materials. If when we ship your package your actual cost of shipping is less than we charged you then we will refund the difference. We ship within a day or two of payment, and we’ll send the tracking number to you via email. The invoice will include a Payment Button. All packages are insured. Packages over $200 require a signature upon delivery per our insurance company. Packages valued over $2500 must be shipped via USPS Express Mail or FedEx Overnight Shipping, in order to be insured. We ship to the address on your invoice. If you want us to ship to a different address, just let us know. The only exception to this are items paid through Paypal. Those items must be shipped to your Paypal address in accordance with Paypal rules. If you are a foreign bidder, be aware that the cost of postage tends to be very high for any packages over 15 ounces. Contact us before bidding for an estimate of shipping costs. In addition, you are solely responsible for any customs charges or taxes levied by your country.
